Actor-Comedian Joel Kim Booster Overcomes Intimidation to Explore Fine Dining in ‘Chrissy and Dave Dine Out’ Series

PARK CITY, Utah – Chrissy Teigen, David Chang, and Joel Kim Booster made an appearance at The Hollywood Reporter’s studio at the Sundance Film Festival to discuss their upcoming food series, “Chrissy and Dave Dine Out.” While Teigen and Chang are well-known in the culinary industry, Booster admits that he didn’t have a deep passion for food until he joined the show.

As the actor-comedian, Booster became the audience surrogate because of his lack of culinary experience. Growing up in a humble household, he didn’t have the opportunity to eat out often. However, during the filming of the series, Booster had his first fine dining experience at the Michelin-star restaurant Providence.

Teigen expressed her excitement at witnessing Booster’s palate expand during this memorable meal. She spoke about the care and love that goes into creating a tasting menu and how amazing it was to see Booster experience it for the first time. Chang also shared his delight at witnessing Booster’s newfound appreciation for food, as it activated a previously dormant part of his life.

Teigen also revealed her own initial experience with fine dining, recalling the time she took her now-husband John Legend to Jean-Georges when they were both 20 years old. She was astonished at the price of the margarita he ordered and feared that her card would be declined. To ensure that didn’t happen, she had to withdraw $800 in cash from the bank. Despite the anxiety, Teigen described the meal as beautiful and wonderful.

With the premiere of “Chrissy and Dave Dine Out” approaching, the cast members are thinking about their goals for the year. Teigen’s priority is to strike a balance between self-care and raising her four children. Chang expressed a desire to spend more time at home with his two young boys, while Booster revealed his specific goal of getting engaged to his boyfriend by the end of the year.

The Sundance Film Festival serves as a backdrop for this interview, hosted by The Hollywood Reporter. This event is supported by sponsors such as Heineken, Hyundai, Bogner, and SIXT.
