LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tisa Farrow, the actress known for her roles in 1970s films such as “Fingers” and “Winter Kills,” has died at the age of 72, according to her sister, Mia Farrow. Tisa Farrow’s death was unexpected and occurred on Wednesday, reportedly while she was sleeping.
Mia Farrow took to Instagram to share the news of her sister’s passing and wrote a heartfelt tribute. She described Tisa as the “best of us,” highlighting her generosity and love for life. Tisa Farrow’s brother, John Farrow, confirmed that she passed away in Rutland, Vermont.
Tisa Farrow began her acting career with a role in “Homer” in 1970, playing the girlfriend of a high school student affected by the Vietnam War. She also appeared in horror films such as “Zombie” and “Anthropophagus.” One of her notable roles was in the film “Fingers,” where she portrayed a woman involved in a kinky romance with a disturbed loner.
Born in Los Angeles, Tisa Farrow was the youngest of seven children. Her mother was Irish actress Maureen O’Sullivan, known for her role as Jane in the Tarzan movies. Tisa Farrow decided to pursue acting after working as a waitress in New York.
In addition to her acting career, Tisa Farrow later became an ER nurse. She was married to producer Terry Deane and had a son named Jason, who tragically died while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2018.
Tisa Farrow is survived by her siblings Mia and John, as well as her sisters Prudence and Stephanie. She also leaves behind her daughter Bridget and grandson Kylor. Mia Farrow, who herself had a successful acting career, starred in several films alongside Tisa, including those directed by Woody Allen.
