LOS ANGELES – Emmy and Academy Award-winning actress Allison Janney is set to join the second season of the critically acclaimed political thriller series “The Diplomat” on Netflix, according to exclusive information obtained by Variety. Janney will make a guest appearance in the show, portraying Vice President Grace Penn. She will join the lead actress Keri Russell in the series, who plays the titular diplomat Kate Wyler. The show’s ensemble cast also includes Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh.
Janney is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished actresses of her generation. She has a successful history of starring in political dramas, notably her role as White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg in the renowned series “The West Wing.” The actress has received numerous accolades throughout her career, winning seven Emmy Awards, two of which were for her portrayal of Cregg.
