Seyfried will also serve as an executive producer for the series, which is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

The news of Seyfried’s involvement in the project emerged after she and Moore were seen riding along with the 26th District Police in Philadelphia. “Long Bright River” is a suspense thriller that follows the story of Mickey, a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood heavily affected by the opioid crisis. The series is being written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano and Liz Moore. Toscano will also serve as the showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Amanda Lewis will executive produce for Original Film, and Amy Pascal will executive produce for Pascal Pictures. Hagar Ben-Asher will direct the first episode and serve as an executive producer.

In a joint statement, Moore and Toscano expressed their excitement about Seyfried’s involvement and the show’s mission to explore how victims can come together to reclaim their power. Moore’s personal history and her work with harm-reduction and community-service organizations in Philadelphia have informed the series, which aims to portray the lives of those struggling with addiction and their loved ones with compassion.

Seyfried is represented by Innovative Artists and Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein, and Selz. Toscano is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Felker Toczek. Moore was represented by The Gotham Group during the sale of “Long Bright River,” and WME now represents her.
