Dell Introduces UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor with 120 Hz Refresh Rate

Las Vegas, Nevada – The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcases numerous computer monitor announcements each year, making it challenging to determine which ones deserve attention. Two notable themes emerged this year, including a significant increase in OLED monitors and the blurring of lines between gaming and premium monitors.

According to CES 2024, OLED monitors are set to become more prevalent and diverse, with plans for appropriately sized screens for desktops. This includes the introduction of 32-inch non-curved QD-OLED options and smaller screens, addressing the demand for OLED monitors in various form factors. This development brings welcome news to those who have been waiting for an expanded range of choices.

In addition, CES revealed hints that the distinction between gaming and premium monitors will continue to diminish. With more people integrating work and home life, future monitors are expected to cater better to users’ needs for both productivity and gaming. While these monitors do not yet perfectly align both functionalities, upcoming innovations are promising in terms of providing a balance between work and play interests.

Among the most intriguing monitors unveiled at CES 2024 are the Dell UltraSharp models. Dell’s UltraSharp monitors have always appealed to workers, creatives, and Mac users due to their USB-C connectivity. In previous CES events, Dell sought to improve its lineup, with the introduction of IPS Black being a notable innovation. However, this year’s focus was on upgraded video resolution.

The Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U4025QW) stands out among the offerings. With a 39.7-inch ultrawide display, 5120×2160 resolution, and a 120 Hz refresh rate, it surpasses the standards of most current monitors aimed at workers. This advancement caters to systems capable of supporting over 11 million pixels at 120 frames per second. With the increasing trend of faster screens, including higher refresh rates in televisions, there is growing acceptance of such developments. The U4025QW’s additional features, such as a 2500R curve, make it suitable for light gaming as well.

Dell emphasizes that the increased refresh rate of the U4025QW aims to enhance eye comfort rather than solely cater to gaming needs. The monitor holds a 5-star certification from TÜV Rheinland’s Eye Comfort program, which takes a comprehensive approach to safety indicators, including ambient brightness, color temperature adjustment, and regulation. The UltraSharp U4025QW incorporates an integrated ambient light sensor and fulfills the program’s minimum requirement of a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Dell had announced the introduction of 120 Hz refresh rates to its UltraSharp lineup in November, starting with two 24-inch and two 27-inch monitors. CES 2024 validated Dell’s commitment by extending the refresh rate upgrade to its top-line ultrawide 5K Thunderbolt 4 monitor. Additionally, the U4025QW benefits from an updated version of ComfortView Plus, which utilizes hardware to lower blue light levels without affecting color accuracy.

Set to release on February 27, the Dell UltraSharp U4025QW will be available starting at $2,400. This monitor boasts a range of improvements, including increased eye comfort, alignment with future trends, and a more immersive viewing experience with a 2500R curve and ultrawide display.
