Mumbai, India – Despite enjoying the benefits of the Christmas and New Year holiday season, the opening box office collections for the film “Dunki,” released on December 21, 2023, were lower compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s previous two films. However, considering its distinct genre in comparison to “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” “Dunki” has managed to maintain a decent business. As the film reaches its 20th day, the numbers have steadily declined since the start of the New Year.
On Day 20, “Dunki” earned approximately Rs 1.30 crore according to Sacnilk Entertainment, a figure similar to its collection on Day 19. The total collection of this Shah Rukh Khan starrer in all languages in India has reached Rs 219 crore. In comparison, “Tiger 3,” another film, achieved a lifetime collection of Rs 260 crore in India. Although “Dunki” is expected to fall short of this figure, with a projected collection of less than Rs 250 crore, the trade still considers it to be respectable due to its clash with “Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire.”
While the film’s overseas numbers have disappointed the trade, “Dunki” has managed to gross over Rs 400 crore worldwide. Meanwhile, by the end of its 19th day, the Prabhas starrer “Salaar” has accumulated approximately Rs 397 crore at the Indian box office. “Dunki” is approaching the end of its box office run, but it, along with “Salaar” and “Animal,” will continue to be screened in theaters as there are no major releases until “Fighter” on January 25, 2024.
To summarize, “Dunki” has witnessed a decline in box office collections after the festive period but is still considered to have maintained a decent business. The film has earned a total of Rs 219 crore in India and over Rs 400 crore worldwide. As it nears the end of its theatrical run, “Dunki,” alongside “Salaar” and “Animal,” will continue to be shown in theaters until the release of “Fighter” on January 25, 2024.
