Auckland, New Zealand – Jennifer Coolidge, fresh off her second Primetime Emmy win for HBO’s “The White Lotus,” has joined the cast of Warner Bros/Vertigo/Legendary’s film adaptation of the popular video game “Minecraft.” The movie is currently being filmed in New Zealand.
Coolidge joins an already talented ensemble that includes Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. The Legendary co-financed production is being directed by Jared Hess and is also supported by Momoa’s production company, On the Roam.
The list of producers for the film includes Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick. The screenplay credits are yet to be determined, as the storyline is being kept under wraps.
With over 300 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players, “Minecraft” is the bestselling video game of all time.
Coolidge, represented by UTA, Mosaic, and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern, recently won the Primetime Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Limited series for her portrayal of Tanya in “The White Lotus.” Her impressive filmography includes “Legally Blonde,” “American Pie,” Academy Award winner “Promising Young Woman,” and Christopher Guest’s films, “A Mighty Wind” and “Best in Show.” She can also be seen in the Netflix series “The Watcher” and will star in the upcoming film “Riff Raff,” alongside Ed Harris, Pete Davidson, and Dustin Hoffman.
