NEW YORK – The final batch of documents related to accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was released on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of materials unsealed by a federal judge in a settled lawsuit. The release included 4,553 pages of documents, revealing the names of more than 150 individuals connected to or mentioned in legal proceedings surrounding Epstein and his alleged network. The network was purportedly involved in paying teenage girls and young women for sexual acts with Epstein and other influential figures, under the guise of massage therapy.
The identities revealed in the newly released documents were already largely known from previous public documents and interviews, and most had only a peripheral connection to the scandal without being involved in any criminal investigation. Notably, the alleged minor victims of Epstein remained confidential throughout the proceedings.
These documents were part of a defamation lawsuit brought against Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed to have been a victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Epstein in the early 2000s. Giuffre’s lawsuit was settled out of court in 2017, but some records remained sealed or with redacted names due to privacy concerns.
In the final batch of released documents, Giuffre stated that Epstein paid her $15,000 to have sex with Britain’s Prince Andrew in 2011. Prince Andrew has continuously denied any sexual involvement with Giuffre or even meeting her. Meanwhile, seven heavily redacted documents within the release contained allegations that Giuffre was directed to have sex with another prince, the owner of a large hotel chain, and billionaire hedge fund manager Glenn Dubin.
Both Dubin and Leslie Weiner, a retail magnate mentioned in the documents, have denied these allegations, with Dubin calling them unsubstantiated statements. Furthermore, Giuffre claimed to have had dinner with former President Bill Clinton on Epstein’s private island, but she did not witness any sexual activity involving him. Clinton, as well as former President Donald Trump, denied any untoward behavior.
Notably, Epstein killed himself in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while facing sex-trafficking charges. His case has been the subject of numerous internet conspiracy theories, although the newly released documents do little to support these claims. Instead, they shed light on the alleged sex trafficking scheme and the control Epstein exerted over vulnerable young females within elite circles.
The release of these documents represents a significant step in providing the public with a broader understanding of Epstein’s alleged activities. While they include celebrity names and known figures, they offer few novel details. Giuffre’s lawyer claims that they contribute to the public’s knowledge of Epstein’s sex trafficking scheme, bolstering the perception of his influence.
