Fans Left Disillusioned as Promised Extended Cut of ‘Animal’ Fails to Deliver on Netflix India

Mumbai, India – Fans of the highly acclaimed family crime drama “Animal” were eagerly waiting for its release on the OTT platform. They not only wanted to relive the theatrical experience but were also excited about the promised extended cut of the film. However, their anticipation quickly turned into disappointment when the Netflix India version failed to deliver any additional content.

When “Animal” was released on Friday, fans checked the runtime on the streaming platform, only to find that it remained the same as the theatrical version, spanning 3 hours and 24 minutes. The absence of the promised extended cut left viewers disheartened.

To make matters worse, during the pivotal showdown on the airstrip between the film’s protagonist Rannvijay, played by Ranbir Kapoor, and the antagonist Abrar, portrayed by Bobby Deol, fans missed the much-anticipated kiss between the two actors. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had assured the audience of this intimate moment after the theatrical release, but it was nowhere to be seen in the OTT version.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Sandeep explained that there was indeed a planned moment where Bobby was supposed to kiss Ranbir on the cheek. However, after careful consideration, the director decided to remove the kiss from the final cut, believing that it diluted the impact of the subsequent emotional moment. Instead, Sandeep opted for Bobby’s powerful expression of a smirk and a tear rolling down his cheek. He assured fans that the deleted kiss scene would be included in the extended cut available on OTT.

Many disappointed viewers took to social media to express their frustration with the absence of the promised extended cut. One user expressed skepticism by calling it a scam, highlighting that the original runtime was 3 hours and 23 minutes, while Netflix presented a 3 hours and 24 minutes runtime. Others questioned the whereabouts of the extended cut version, expecting it to be 3 hours and 44 minutes long.

Fans of “Animal” were let down as the eagerly anticipated extended cut failed to materialize on the OTT platform. The absence of additional content left viewers disenchanted, particularly with the missing kiss scene between the lead actors. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s decision to remove the kiss in favor of a more powerful emotional moment left fans hopeful for its inclusion in the promised extended cut. However, the disappointment expressed by viewers on social media reflects a sense of betrayal and skepticism towards the released version.
