Los Angeles (AP) – Renowned horror filmmaker Greg Nicotero, known for his work on “The Walking Dead” and “Creepshow,” is set to take on a new project. He will be adapting Robert McCammon’s novel “Swan Song” into a television series. The announcement was made by Nicotero’s production company, Monster Agency.
According to a press release, Nicotero will serve as executive producer for the show and will also direct the pilot episode. The search is currently underway for a writer to join the project. Nicotero expressed his excitement, stating that it is the perfect time to delve into this world. He praised McCammon’s story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world and described it as one of his favorites.
“Swan Song,” released in 1987, is set in America after a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. The novel follows the lives of several survivors, one of whom possesses supernatural powers and becomes the target of a malevolent force. The book received critical acclaim and was a New York Times bestseller.
Co-executive producers Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, and Vicky Patel of Monarch Media described McCammon’s novel as incredibly compelling and unlike anything seen before in film or television. They expressed their excitement to bring the world of “Swan Song” to life alongside Nicotero and Brian Witten.
The article does not mention which network or streaming platform will air the series. However, Nicotero has had a long-standing partnership with AMC, which also adapted horror novels in the past.
As production moves forward on “Swan Song,” horror fans eagerly anticipate the adaptation of another beloved work from the genre. Nicotero’s expertise and passion for horror make him the ideal choice to bring McCammon’s story to the small screen.
