Groundbreaking Marvel Series ‘Echo’ to Premiere Simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu, Revealing Maya Lopez’s Origin Story and Intense Confrontation with Kingpin

LOS ANGELES – Marvel Studios is set to release its highly anticipated TV-MA show, “Echo,” on Disney+. The show follows the journey of Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox, who made her first appearance in “Hawkeye” as a secondary antagonist before turning against her boss, Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin.

In “Echo,” viewers will get to explore Maya’s backstory and witness her intense confrontation with Fisk, especially after she shot him in the face in the finale of “Hawkeye.”

Unlike previous Marvel shows on Disney+, “Echo” will have a different release schedule. All five episodes of the series will drop simultaneously on Tuesday, January 9 at 9 p.m. ET on both Disney+ and Hulu.

Marvel’s decision to release all episodes at once deviates from the usual approach of one episode per week. While the studio hasn’t explicitly stated the rationale behind this change, it could be an attempt to cater to the growing trend of binge-watching favored by many viewers.

Alternatively, some speculate that Marvel may have expedited the release due to dissatisfaction with the final product. However, early reactions from critics have been mostly positive, praising the grounded tone of “Echo” and the strong performance by Alaqua Cox.

2024 is shaping up to be a relatively quiet year for Marvel Studios, with only three live-action projects scheduled for release. Alongside “Echo,” fans can anticipate the arrival of “Deadpool 3” and “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.”

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 9, when all episodes of “Echo” will be available on Disney+ at 9 p.m. ET.
