Kansas City, Missouri – Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have solidified their place in NFL history. Following their win over the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday’s AFC title game, the Chiefs are now on the brink of making even more history. Only two other teams have achieved what Kansas City is on the verge of accomplishing – playing in four Super Bowls within a five-year span.
If the Chiefs triumph in Super Bowl LVIII, they will join the elite company of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s, Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, and the New England Patriots in the 2000s and 2010s as the only teams to win three Super Bowls within the same timeframe.

With his fourth Super Bowl start, he will join a small group of quarterbacks, including Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Troy Aikman, who have started in at least four Super Bowls. In addition to Mahomes, the Chiefs’ coach, Andy Reid, is also making his mark among Super Bowl coaches. Reid is tied for the third-most appearances in the Super Bowl by a head coach. If the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII, Reid will join the esteemed ranks of Bill Belichick, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh, and Joe Gibbs as the only head coaches with three Super Bowl rings.
The Chiefs are on the verge of etching their name in the history books as a franchise. Should they emerge victorious in Super Bowl LVIII, they will become the ninth team to successfully defend their championship and the first since the 2003-04 Patriots. Furthermore, the Chiefs would join the Steelers, Patriots, 49ers, Cowboys, Giants, and Packers as one of only a few franchises to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy at least four times.
