Oppenheimer, Succession, and The Bear Dominate Screen Actors Guild Nominations for Best Performances in Film and TV

Los Angeles, CA – The nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced today, celebrating outstanding performances in film and television. Notable contenders include the biopic Oppenheimer, the TV series Succession, and the film The Bear. These nominations recognize the best talent on both the big and small screens.

Among the nominations for Oppenheimer are Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, and the film’s ensemble cast. The category for Best Ensemble includes other notable films such as American Fiction, The Color Purple, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Barbie.

Greta Gerwig’s Mattel satire, Barbie, received nominations for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Robbie will be competing for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role alongside Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Carey Mulligan, and Emma Stone.

In the category of Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role, Murphy will face tough competition from Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, and Jeffrey Wright. Gosling and Downey Jr. are both nominated for Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role, along with Sterling K Brown, Willem Dafoe, and Robert De Niro.

Blunt received a nomination for Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role, along with Danielle Brooks, Jodie Foster, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Penélope Cruz. However, there were notable snubs in the film category, including Charles Melton and Natalie Portman for May December, Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things, Greta Lee for Past Lives, and Leonardo DiCaprio for Killers of the Flower Moon.

In the television categories, Succession led with five nominations for its final season. Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen were recognized for Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series. Sarah Snook was nominated for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series.

The Golden Globe Awards, which took place last weekend, served as an indicator of the upcoming Oscars. Many winners at the Golden Globes, including Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Paul Giamatti, and Cillian Murphy, also received nominations for the SAG Awards.
