Patriots Ties: Rams Assistants Set for Interviews with New England for Offensive Coordinator Position

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – As the New England Patriots continue their search for an offensive coordinator, two assistant coaches from the Los Angeles Rams, who have ties to the Patriots, are set to interview for the position.

Nick Caley, the Rams’ tight ends coach, and Zac Robinson, the quarterbacks coach, are scheduled to meet with Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo. Caley’s interview is slated for Monday, while Robinson’s interview will take place on Tuesday.

Caley has a history with the Patriots organization, having joined as an offensive assistant in 2015 before moving up to become the team’s tight ends coach in 2017. Last year, he made the transition to the Rams.

Robinson, a former seventh-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2010, didn’t make the team but has since found success as a coach. He joined the Rams’ staff in 2019 and is also receiving interest from the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears for their offensive coordinator vacancies.

The Patriots’ search for an offensive coordinator comes after Josh McDaniels departed to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. McDaniels had spent 19 seasons with the Patriots, serving as the team’s offensive coordinator for most of that time.

Mayo, who was promoted to head coach earlier this year, is looking for someone to fill the crucial role of offensive coordinator as he aims to build a successful team. The hiring of experienced assistant coaches like Caley and Robinson, who have ties to the Patriots’ winning culture, could bring fresh ideas and strategies to the team’s offense.

The Patriots have been known for their offensive prowess throughout the years, and the selection of a capable offensive coordinator will be crucial in maintaining that reputation. The interviews with Caley and Robinson indicate that the team is actively seeking the best candidate to lead their offense in the upcoming season.

As the interviews take place this week, all eyes will be on the Patriots to see who they ultimately choose for the offensive coordinator position. The decision will not only impact the team’s on-field performance but also the direction and potential success of the franchise moving forward.
