Prabhas starrer Salaar premieres on Netflix India, crossing ₹400 crore at box office

Mumbai, India – “Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire,” the action entertainer directed by Prashanth Neel and starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has achieved great success at the Indian box office, crossing the ₹400 crore mark. Now, the film is set to make its premiere on the online streaming platform Netflix India on January 20. The decision to release the film on OTT comes after Netflix India unveiled its Telugu slate for 2024, which includes “Salaar” as one of the 12 Telugu films to be streamed on the platform.

The film was originally released in theaters on December 22, 2023, and will now be available for streaming in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil languages. However, the release date for the Hindi version is yet to be announced.

Apart from “Salaar,” the Telugu slate on Netflix India includes other highly anticipated films such as Jr NTR’s “Devara,” featuring Allu Arjun, and “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” These films will be available for streaming on the platform after their theatrical screenings. Moreover, Netflix India will also be home to several other Telugu titles in 2024, including “Buddy,” “Gangs of Godavari,” Vijay Devarakonda’s 12th film, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 109th movie, and separate untitled projects featuring Sidhu and Karthikeya.

“Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire” takes place in the fictional city of Khansaar and revolves around the story of childhood friends Deva (Prabhas) and Vardha (Prithviraj). The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, and Sriya Reddy. Having grossed ₹650 crore at the worldwide box office, the film has been widely acclaimed and enjoyed by audiences in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

In recent news, Prabhas announced his next film, a romantic horror titled “The Raja Saab,” on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Directed by Maruthi, the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

This development indicates the increasing popularity and recognition of Telugu cinema, with Netflix India showcasing a diverse range of Telugu films in its upcoming slate. Movie enthusiasts can look forward to a year filled with exciting and entertaining content, further fueling the growth of the Telugu film industry.
