Los Angeles, CA – As Season 2 of the popular show “Reacher” nears its conclusion on Amazon Prime Video, the cast and crew are already gearing up for Season 3. With a strong 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, “Reacher” has captivated audiences and solidified its position as a top-streamed series.
Starring Alan Ritchson as Major Jack Reacher, the show brings to life Lee Child’s beloved book series and follows in the footsteps of two successful movies featuring Tom Cruise. Ritchson took over the role in 2022 and has received praise for his portrayal.
While Season 3’s release date has not been confirmed, preparations are well underway. Ritchson announced during a panel event in Brazil that filming for the new season had already begun, and an extended look at Season 2 was shared. The actor took to Instagram to share a photo of himself preparing for shooting by covering up his tattoos.
Although the specific book that Season 3 will adapt has not been announced, Ritchson revealed that it is one of his personal favorites and will undoubtedly please fans. Production timelines for previous seasons indicate that filming for Season 3 will likely wrap up in February or March, with a potential release on Amazon Prime Video in late 2024.
The cast for Season 3 is yet to be confirmed, but Ritchson is the only actor officially announced to reprise his role. Maria Sten, who plays Frances Neagley, may also return, but no official reports have confirmed her involvement. The remaining cast will depend on the book that Season 3 adapts, as the series follows the nomadic nature of the Jack Reacher character.
As Season 2 concludes and audiences eagerly await Season 3, the possibilities for the new season’s plot are wide open. With 28 books in the Jack Reacher series and counting, the show has a wealth of source material to draw from. While Season 1 closely followed the events of the first book, Season 2 jumped ahead to the 11th book. Any of the remaining 26 books could serve as inspiration for Season 3, with the exception of the latest book, “The Secret,” which will not be released until after filming for Season 3 concludes.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy the highly anticipated Season 2 finale of “Reacher,” which will air on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, January 18 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
