LONDON – Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has been hospitalized for a planned surgery. The palace stated that she underwent successful abdominal surgery at The London Clinic and is expected to remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before returning home to continue her recovery. Doctors have advised her to refrain from public duties until Easter. Middleton expressed her gratitude for the public’s understanding and requested that her personal medical information remain private.
This is not the first time the princess has faced health challenges in the public eye. During her three pregnancies, Middleton was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a condition that causes severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and dehydration. She has described it as a severe form of morning sickness. In a podcast interview, Middleton shared that although her experiences were challenging, she was aware that others had it worse, emphasizing the impact it had on the entire family.
On her 42nd birthday, Middleton received warm wishes from the King and Queen, who shared a photo on social media of the princess taken during the coronation. The royal couple expressed their birthday greetings and celebrated Middleton’s dedication as a mother of three.
Middleton and her husband, Prince William, received their titles of Prince and Princess of Wales after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. The couple, who met at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, dated for several years before their engagement in 2010. They have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Prince William, the eldest son of the late Princess Diana, is in line to inherit the British throne.
As Middleton continues her recovery, she looks forward to resuming her engagements as soon as possible. Throughout her journey, she has shown resilience and a commitment to maintaining normalcy for her children. The public’s understanding and support during this time are greatly appreciated.
