Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan Reunite for Highly-Anticipated Spec Script Project

LOS ANGELES – Filmmaker Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan are set to collaborate once again on an upcoming feature film project, generating excitement among studio and streaming executives. The project, currently untitled, will serve as Coogler’s next directorial endeavor. Coogler, known for his work on “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has written the script for the film and will also direct it. Jordan, who has frequently collaborated with Coogler in the past on films such as the “Panther” series, “Creed,” and “Fruitvale Station,” will take on a leading role.

This highly anticipated project marks the first spec script to come from Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media. “Fruitvale Station,” released in 2013, was Coogler’s previous spec script. The upcoming film is fully internally developed and is based on an original idea by Coogler, who will also serve as the lead producer. Coogler will produce alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.

Due to the secrecy surrounding the project, little information is currently available. Executives and buyers had to personally visit the offices of WME, the agency representing Coogler and Jordan, to access the script and gather details. These meetings took place last week.

Coogler and his team are taking a methodical approach to the project. Interested parties will meet with the filmmaker this week to discuss his vision. A production commitment will be requested during these meetings.

Although the project is described as a “genre” feature, its specific genre remains undisclosed. “Genre” can encompass a wide range of categories, including horror, thriller, science fiction, and fantasy. Two sources familiar with the project have mentioned the presence of a period element in the story. Coogler’s team declined to comment further.

Coogler has become one of the most sought-after filmmakers of his generation. His work on the “Creed” series revitalized the “Rocky” franchise, and “Black Panther” garnered critical acclaim, earning a best picture nomination and grossing $1.2 billion worldwide.

In addition to his collaboration with Coogler, Jordan recently directed and starred in “Creed III” and is set to take on a fourth installment in the series.
