Seattle, WA – The Seattle Sounders have bolstered their roster with the addition of three new players. The signings of Nathan Cardoso, Braudilio Rodrigues, and Jonathan Bell were made official recently.
Nathan, a 28-year-old Brazilian centerback, joins Seattle after spending the last season with the San Jose Earthquakes. Despite an impressive performance in 2022, he unfortunately missed the entirety of the previous season due to an ACL injury. Prior to his move to the Major League Soccer (MLS), Nathan had played for renowned teams in Brazil and Switzerland.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Rodrigues had a successful stint with the Tacoma Defiance last year, setting a record with 17 goals scored for S2/Defiance. While he possesses versatility across the front six positions, he primarily operated as a left winger. The Sounders acquired his rights from New York City FC by offering a 2025 third-round MLS SuperDraft pick. In addition, NYCFC retains a percentage of any future sell-on fee and could receive $50,000 in GAM upon achieving certain performance metrics.
Finally, Bell, aged 26, was obtained by the Sounders from the Re-Entry Draft after his option was declined by St. Louis City FC. Prior to that, he spent three seasons with the New England Revolution. Bell has predominantly played centerback but also has experience as a left back. Notably, he possesses a strong left foot.
These signings highlight the Sounders’ commitment to reinforcing their squad for the upcoming season. Nathan’s defensive prowess, Rodrigues’ attacking capabilities, and Bell’s versatility will undoubtedly contribute to the team’s overall performance.
In summary, the Seattle Sounders have welcomed three valuable additions to their first-team roster. Nathan Cardoso brings his defensive skills and international experience, while Braudilio Rodrigues provides attacking prowess and versatility. Lastly, Jonathan Bell’s ability to play at both centerback and left back adds depth to the Sounders’ defensive options. With these signings, the Sounders are poised to make a strong impact in the upcoming season.
