Los Angeles – Severin Films, one of the leading labels in physical media, is starting off the new year with three North American premieres. The lineup includes the ultimate version of Jess Franco’s 1972 film “Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein,” the rarely-seen Ozploitation slasher “Bloodmoon,” and Andrea Bianchi’s zombie horror classic “Burial Ground.” These films will be presented in stunning 4K Ultra HD.
Severin Films is also celebrating by releasing an all-new “Burial Ground” t-shirt and Michael Pillowcase, which will be available in two of this month’s bundles.
In addition to the premieres, Severin Films is fulfilling requests for wider releases of previously limited-edition titles. Frank Henenlotter’s black comedy shocker “Bad Biology,” the controversial ’80s sleaze classic “Nightmare,” and Lucio Fulci’s giallo masterpiece “The Psychic” will all be restored in 4K Ultra HD.
“Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein” is a unique mash-up inspired by Universal’s monster movies from the 1940s. Directed by Jess Franco, the film offers minimal dialogue and maximum gothic atmosphere. It features Count Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein, and Frankenstein’s monster, along with gypsies, showgirls, and a wolfman. The new release of this film includes a comprehensive 4K scan from Spanish, French, and German release prints.
“Bloodmoon” is a depraved Ozploitation slasher set at St. Elizabeth’s Girls School, complete with nudity, gore, and plenty of ’80s Aussie glam-metal. The film is directed by Alec Mills and stars Leon Lissek, Christine Amor, and Helen Thomson. For the first time ever, the American release of this film will include “The Bloodmoon Fright Break Challenge.”
“Burial Ground,” directed by Andrea Bianchi, is a groundbreaking Italian horror film that takes the genre to new levels of gore and depravity. Starring Mariangela Giordano and Peter Bark, the film is set in a cursed country estate overrun by undead Etruscans and features shocking scenes that will leave audiences speechless. The new release of “Burial Ground” includes a 4K scan and four hours of special features.
