She-Hulk Star Tatiana Maslany Doubts Second Season Due to Budget Blowout

Los Angeles, CA – The future of the Marvel series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” appears uncertain as star Tatiana Maslany revealed in a recent interview that she does not believe a second season will happen. Maslany suggested that the show’s budget was a contributing factor to the potential cancellation.

In an appearance on Twitch’s “Codenames LIVE! — The New Class,” Maslany commented, “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks.'”

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” centers around Jennifer Walters, played by Maslany, an attorney who specializes in legal cases involving superhumans. The show’s first season, consisting of nine episodes, depicted Walters navigating her life as a single woman with her 6-foot-7-inch green hulk alter ego.

The first season featured guest appearances from various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters, including Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong. Other notable cast members included Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, Jon Bass, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.

Kat Coiro and Ana Valia directed several episodes of the first season, with Jessica Gao serving as the head writer. The series, executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Coiro, and Gao, premiered on Disney+ in August 2022.

Gao, the head writer, discussed the Season 1 finale in an interview with Deadline last year, explaining that it could serve as both a season finale and a potential series finale if the show does not get renewed for another season. She emphasized the importance of crafting a satisfying and complete story for the first season, while also leaving room for future possibilities.

As of now, it remains to be seen whether “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” will return for a second season. Fans of the show will have to wait for official confirmation from Disney or Marvel Studios.
