Los Angeles, USA – James Gunn’s highly anticipated superhero film, “Superman: Legacy,” is set to kick off the new DC Universe (DCU). The movie will introduce at least seven superheroes and serve as a reboot of the iconic Superman franchise. Gunn has already cast several heroes, but the details of their roles in the film remain undisclosed.
The movie will take place in a world where superheroes already exist, signaling a departure from previous Superman interpretations. One of the new additions to the cast is actor David Corenswet, who will portray the Man of Steel himself, taking over the role from Henry Cavill. Gunn specifically sought someone with “kindness and compassion” for the role, emphasizing the need to balance Superman’s human and alien attributes.
Joining Corenswet in the film is Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer. Each character brings unique abilities and adds depth to the superhero ensemble.
The casting of these superheroes sets the stage for an exciting new direction for the DCU. Gunn, known for his work on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, expressed his enthusiasm for working with the cast and bringing beloved comic book characters to life.
In addition to the superhero lineup, Gunn has also confirmed the casting of Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher. However, it remains unclear whether Sean Gunn’s portrayal of Maxwell Lord will appear in “Superman: Legacy” or a future DCU project.
“Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Fans can expect a fresh take on the Man of Steel and an exciting introduction to the new DCU under James Gunn’s direction.
