Thailand Secures Season Three Filming of HBO Hit Series ‘The White Lotus’ in Bangkok and Resort Islands

Bangkok, Thailand – The highly popular HBO TV series “The White Lotus” is set to film its third season in Thailand, according to announcements made by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and HBO. The show, created by Mike White, is scheduled to begin filming in February in the cities of Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui. Despite the new season not set to air until 2025, the TAT is already preparing for the show’s impact and has joined forces with HBO for filming and promotional activities.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the TAT Governor, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are honored to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of ‘The White Lotus.'” He emphasized the country’s natural beauty, historical sites, landscapes, culture, cuisine, wellness options, luxury offerings, and hospitable people as perfect ingredients to showcase to the world.

Janet Graham Borba, EVP of production at HBO & Max, also praised the partnership with the TAT, stating, “We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus.”

Fans of the show will recall that the previous two seasons were set in luxury hotels in Hawaii and Sicily. The selection of Thailand, a renowned tourist destination, perfectly befits the series’ theme. In “The White Lotus,” guests and employees at a lavish resort undergo a life-altering week as the hidden truths behind their seemingly perfect lives are revealed.

While online speculation suggests that season three may take place in one of Thailand’s Four Seasons properties, including those in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Samui, and Bangkok, the luxury hotel resort brand has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming season, it is worth noting that season one’s Jennifer Coolidge will be making a return, reprising her role as the wealthy but unaware traveler, Tanya. Natasha Rothwell, who played the spa manager at the White Lotus resort in Hawaii, will also be returning for season three. HBO has also announced an array of new cast members, including Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, and Tayme Thapthimthong.

In summary, season three of “The White Lotus” will take place in Thailand, with filming set to begin in February. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is partnering with HBO to showcase the country’s beauty, culture, and hospitality. The previous two seasons were set in luxurious resorts in Hawaii and Sicily.
