Los Angeles – Marvel Comics is set to release a new limited series titled “What If?…Venom,” exploring alternate realities where different Marvel characters have bonded with the Venom symbiote. The five-issue series will feature She-Hulk, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Loki, and Moon Knight as Venom hosts. Marvel recently unveiled the Venom-ized designs for these characters, showcasing their unique take on the iconic anti-hero.
Each issue of “What If?…Venom” is written by Jeremy Holt and illustrated by various artists, such as Jesús Hervás, Tadam Gyadu, Manuel Garcia, and Diogenes Neves. The designs for She-Hulk and Moon Knight by Jesús Hervás, Wolverine by Chris Campana, and Doctor Strange by Jonas Scharf have been revealed along with some interior pages from the first issue.
The Venom-ized Doctor Strange design by Chris Campana is particularly striking, with the Venom symbiote integrated into his cloak and the monstrous Eye of Agamotto. Holt expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “Having the opportunity to play within the Venom sandbox is cool. Having the opportunity to bond five iconic heroes to the alien parasite is cooler.”
Marvel has previously showcased Venomized versions of its heroes on variant covers, but “What If?…Venom” marks a rare occurrence where these Venomized heroes will have their own full stories. The series offers a revisionist history, providing distinct versions of the beloved anti-hero.
