SEOUL, South Korea – Musician Yoon Sang and his son Anton, a member of K-pop group RIIZE, recently made an appearance on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” for a special family episode. During the show, Yoon Sang opened up about his initial disbelief when Anton expressed his desire to become a K-pop idol. Anton, on the other hand, shared his journey of pursuing music despite his parents’ different plans for him.
Yoon Sang revealed that he never imagined his son would become a K-pop idol, considering his background as a swimmer. Anton clarified that swimming was never his dream but rather a means to get into a good school. Alongside swimming, Anton also learned to play the piano and guitar and developed an interest in composing music in middle school.
Yoon Sang admitted that when Anton first revealed his aspiration to be an idol, he couldn’t believe it. After discussing it for about a year, Yoon Sang and Anton’s mother decided to let him give it a try. They recognized his passion and knew school wouldn’t be a priority if he had such a significant goal. Anton eventually flew to Korea to pursue his dream.
Anton shared that even though his parents had a different future in mind for him, he was always curious about his father’s music career. From a young age, he would listen to his father’s music from the basement studio. When his father wasn’t there, Anton would visit the basement alone to familiarize himself with his father’s work.
Yoon Sang also expressed his pride when Anton treated him to a meal for the first time. It happened the day before Christmas when Anton asked if his father was free. They shared a meal together, and Anton paid for it. Yoon Sang was moved to tears when he realized his child had grown up so much.
During the show, Yoon Sang introduced the other members of RIIZE personally, allowing viewers to get acquainted with each member. The episode offered insights into Yoon Sang and Anton’s heartfelt bond and the family’s support for Anton’s dream of becoming a K-pop idol.
